OUR THEORY OF CHANGE
Our Theory of Change and Community Programs are based on the three levels of assistance we provide to people in vulnerable situations due to economic poverty, poor access to healthcare, or at risk of exploitation:
Crisis Relief - We give food and material assistance to help people going through crisis at a family level, due to unemployment, death, illness, etc. or, a community level, due to natural disasters, wars, pandemics, an oppressive or impotent government, etc. The mistake we want to avoid is giving material assistance beyond the crisis and creating an unhealthy dependency that takes away people’s dignity and limits their potential.
Personal Empowerment - We provide training, counseling, education, coaching, mentoring and empowerment for people to break themselves and their family out of economic poverty, vulnerability and/or exploitation. This involves spiritual and psychological support as well as educational and vocational training that breaks a poverty mindset, a victim mentality and co-dependency and helps develop a positive self-image, dignity, confidence and determination.
Asset Based Community Development A.B.C.D. - We build community collaboration that promotes positive transformation by enlisting and involving community V.O.I.C.E.S.(Volunteers, Organizations, Institutions, Churches, Enterprises and Specialists). We begin with the ASSETS of the community and its members instead of the liabilities and together we explore how we as a community can leverage our assets to overcome problems and promote the well-being of our community and activate a sense of social co-responsibility, community pride and civic engagement.
